Hard disk drive can be divided into several partitions for separating different data according to the requirements and needs. The hard disk is generally formatted before it is used for the first time. Formatting can be low-level formatting, in which the disk surface is formatted, and characteristics like sector numbers are installed and high-level formatting which is a process of writing the file system structures on the disk, which can be used for storing the data. You can format the partition by right-clicking on the particular partition and selecting the “Format” option. If you click on that, you will get the "Quick format" as an option and if you click "Start", it will format the partition. You can also perform format using "format" command, which is a Microsoft DOS command.
